That's almost impossible. But that's not the point. Taming the mind means that some kind of friendship takes place between those four aggregates and you. It is workable; it is actually happening.
Some sense of joy actually does take place. The last thing I would like to talk about is the Tibetan word dedpa. " This type of conviction is not particularly as big a deal as the conviction we might discuss later on in the mahayana and vajrayana traditions. Dedpa is just basic faith in what we are doing, which is almost the same attitude as kiinlhong. Because of this faith you have a sense of being, a sense of existing, a sense that you are here and that you are following your way through. It could be called blind faith, but the prerequisite of dedpa is not blind faith, but real faith.
The basic issue is one's mind being in the right place. When we talk about "right" place, we are not talking about anything connected with morality, but its own place, the place where it is now, this very moment. And that is, in fact, the essence of the hinayana discipline. Mind being in the right place has two categories: one-pointedness and being discriminating minded in the dharma. One-pointedness is the notion of awareness, 24 hour awareness. We are not only talking in terms of the awareness that takes place while you sit or while you practice, but we are talking in terms of the awareness which happens constantly all the time, which we have discussed many times before.
